Job Description

Purpose of Job:

To manage the day-to-day operation of Core Business Systems teams and take ownership of the business strategy. 

The new Head of Core Business Systems role will therefore be expected to make a significant contribution to the Company’s roadmap for  fulfilment systems. This is particularly important as the organisation goes through a period of dramatic evolution, which the Business Systems Teams will need to support.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Managing the flow of work into the Business Systems Teams: capacity planning & reporting
  • Liaising with the Business to provide high level guidance regarding the solution roadmap, managing future expectations
  • Developing the Business Systems road map
  • Working closely with other department heads and the IT Director on different projects
  • Contribution to major new solution ventures
  • Contribution to the Company’s overall IT Strategy
  • Implementing process change within the teams and with other IT resources as necessary
  • Ensuring overall delivery of solutions, including business processes
  • Assisting the business strategy through enabling growth and opportunities
  • Developing a first class team of Business Analysts and Senior Business Analysts, through monitoring the achievement of KPI’s
  • Assisting with the development of the IT strategy
  • The Head of the Core Business Systems Team is responsible for achieving systems objectives for Back-office, WMS, Buying & Merchandising and other Supply Chain activities.
Candidate Requirements

Education, Skills and Experience:

Education:

  • Degree preferred, but not essential

Skills:             

  • Strong management experience running Business Systems teams within a medium-large scale, international company
  • Capable of recommending and implementing change programmes, a successful influencer at a senior level
  • High motivation to make a difference within a changing environment, ready to challenge and contribute to the Company’s strategy
  • Management of operating budgets and sound understanding of financial structure, reporting and P/L.
  • Strategic planning and leadership in the implementation of process management and information technology generally
  • Talent acquisition and development, mentoring skills
  • The capability to lead by example in appropriate problem-solving situations

Experience:

  • Significant experience within eCommerce, the retail sector or other high content sector, ideally a T1 Multi-channel Retailer or eCommerce-only retailer
  • Significant experience and capability working in a fast paced, high volume transactional environment
  • Has been responsible for the successful delivery of a complex project (design, development & implementation)
  • Experience with Web and/ or Fulfilment systems, as appropriate
  • Experience within a Microsoft .NET, SQL Server development environment
  • International operations experience is desirable
  • Business Systems Experience with mission-critical systems
  • High transactional volume environment experience

 Additional Requirements:

  • Thorough understanding of IT Industry and technology trends
  • Has experience with/exposure to, and capability to implement procedures based on:
    • Agile
    • RUP
    • ITIL
    • Prince2
    • MS Project
