Don't know if this quite hits the sweet spot, but our firm did some exploratory research with US parents about opinions they have about their "under 10 years old"  childrens gaming. A downloadable pdf of highlights available at http://www.prophis.com/pr/iKidsGaming1_aug30.pdf.

I can recommend Complete Control as a specialist children's digital agency for advice - might be helpful to see some of the things they've worked on recently. http://www.completecontrol.co.uk/

The Childwise Monitor Report was always our bible for kids total media consumption.

It covers both traditional media and digital, as well as everything from kids acquisition of mobile phones (both ownership, as well as paying bills) to favourite online destinations and futurology.
