I totally agree that funnels are over-rated these days, but what so many sites STILL do too much of is over-complicate the checkout process (E-commerce enabled sites).

I manage a website which is non-transactional (luxury cruise travel agent) where the goals are for visitors to register ther interest in a cruise or cruise company online by completing an enquiry form online requesting a call-back. These forms are so tedious to complete and we are imminently launching a new site that will have very simple online forms and where the user-interface will be much improved.
