    Hi

We need to replace our payment gateway ProTX.

Do any of you guys have any advice?

    Background
We have been using Protx for a couple of years now. The are very cheap but
    A) Their systems have been massively unreliable
    B) They sometimes change the way their interface works but deny doing so.
    C) Diabolical customer support - they are almost impossible to get hold of by telephone.

The net result is that they have lost us literally tens of thousands of pounds and using them has been an utter disaster. (We are thinking of taking them to court in fact.)

Someone recommended ePDQ, but they - point blank - wont deal with us, because we have entry fees. Strange but true.

Someone else recommended Datacash as being reliable (albeit rather expensive!). HSBC are supposed to be good, but very hard to join.

About 2 years ago I found an independent website that reviewed different card payment gateways, but unfortunately I cant find it now...

    - Any recommendations?

We've been integrating SECPay into bespoke and ecommerce systems for a while and have found them to have the right balance of cost and features.

You can speak to real developers on the phone, rather than scripted call centre agents which can certainly make a real difference on the trickier problems.

We have integrated WorldPay before but have generally not found it to be as elegant or flexible as SECPay. SECPay srvices do require a merchant account, whereas WorldPay offer PSP services and a merchant account rolled into one, useful if you can't or are unable to get a standard merchant account.

    Thanks

    Tim

avatar We've used securehosting.com on a couple of sites and they are very cost effective and support is great - even to the extent  of taking on issues we had with Streamline and getting it resolved.

Our developer has helped 2 other clients across to them from ProtX  recently and they've been very pleased.

Worldpay are OK if you don't have your own merchant ID, but they are very expensive and I've had reliability issues with them in the past.

    Hi Ship

Apologies for the blatant sales pitch, but I'd like to recommend SecureTrading. We are the largest independent PSP in the UK and have been in business for over 10 years. We work closely with all the major UK acquirers and are finalising agreements with two major European acquirers.

We are widely regarded as providing the best customer support in the business, with direct dial to our support team between 6am-11pm Monday - Friday. Our systems are also one of the most trusted in market, with dual system architecture to ensure reliability and we are Level 1 PCI accredited and already integrated into 3-D secure.

We are also integrated to most major shopping carts, but our interface is simple to integrate and of course, our support team will be on hand to guide you through the process.

If you would like to discuss this further, please contact me on 0800 028 9151 or visit our web site www.securetrading.com

    Regards

    Ian

Im surprised that no one has mentioned CyberSource.

Does anyone have any comments about CyberSource as a gateway ?

They are supposed to be popular in the US.

Hi Ship, as an ecommerce agency we've worked with most of the payment gateways over the years: Protx, HSBC, ePDQ, WorldPay, etc and they all have their good and bad points I'm afraid.  I think the comparison website you were thinking of is this one: http://www.electronic-payments.co.uk/

    Regards,
    Lee
